Top 5 Revealed – Full List Up

Check them out…

So now the whole list is up! It took a lot of time and effort to compile it, but it was also a lot of fun. After I finished the list, I thought I’d see how much overlap there was with other best-of-decade lists. Turns out that 17 of Rolling Stone’s top 100 songs appear in my top 50, 10 from Pitchfork’s list (6 of which are in their top ten!), and only 7 from Billboard’s biggest hits of the decade.

I’d love to hear what you think as well! Feel free to leave comments throughout the site.

Welcome to 2k50!

What is this list?

My name is Michael Histen. I love music, I love lists, and I love web design — so I decided to make a fun little site to showcase my favorite songs of the decade. This list covers songs released in 2000-2009 (as determined by their parent album’s release date) and is not intended to be anything other than my personal favorites. My tastes run heavily toward electronic pop music, so the list is skewed in that direction, but there are samplings of other genres as well. I’ll be rolling out 5 songs a day until December 30, when the top 5 are revealed.

If this were a top 100…

I was curious how this list would be fleshed out if I had chosen 100 songs, and thought it might be interesting to share that. Here’s what 51-100 would look like, arranged in alphabetical order by artist.
